Your school needs Volunteers

Your school needs Volunteers – Can you help?
As the schools are getting set to return on March 8th, we’re working with the sector to recruit volunteers to help with a Covid-19 testing programme for returning children.
Volunteers are needed in the following areas: Braunton, Chulmleigh, Cullompton, Dawlish, Exeter, Exmouth, Great Torrington, Newton Abbot, Crediton, Sidmouth, South Molton, Teignmouth, Ilfracombe, Tiverton and Uffculme.
There are a couple of different roles available that will be assigned to volunteers at the schools on the day. Volunteers will be supervised throughout.
A more detailed role description, a short training guide and application form can be accessed by clicking on the following link:
The application form allows you to choose the school nearest to you.

Be part of the Heanton Snow Patrol!

Okay, you don’t get a policeman’s helmet or yellow trousers, but you do get the satisfaction of keeping your street safe and clear when the snow and ice arrive.

Heanton’s now part of the county’s ‘Snow Warden Scheme’, so we’ve got 3 tonnes of grit/salt, a gritting machine and a burgeoning network of authorised Snow Wardens who will try and make sure the roads and pavements are passable.

However, we still need volunteers to cover Hart Manor, Barn Park, Poyers, Orchard Close, Williams/Manor Close, Westlands/Glebelands/Southlands Close, Rectory/Dunns Close, Capern Close and Chivenor.

If you’d like to join, please contact the Parish Snow Wardens, Steve Crowther for Heanton Village or Julian Turner (07970 983152) for Wrafton & Chivenor

Could you stand up for your community? If you live in or around Heanton, Wrafton or Chivenor and feel you could help, why not think about joining the Parish Council? We have vacancies at the moment so you wouldn’t need to wait until an election. Message us or email the Parish Clerk, Malcolm Measures- to see what the post entails and how you can help shape the place you live.

Heanton litter picking

Litter Pick

Great effort this morning, litter picking at Velator Pond. 8 or 9 of us soon filled our bags with cans, bottles and general rubbish, all on it’s way to be recycled. And rather more abandoned footwear than I expected! Why not join us for a bit of exercise next time we go out in a couple of weeks?
